Calligraphic Dining Chairs
A set of 4 teak dining chairs dating from mid-century. They have been re- covered in black linen and hand embroidered by Sally. The design, by Peter Nencini, runs accross the 4 chairs. Find out more about the design process on Peter’s blog.
Come to Life Chair
A high back wooden armchair, covered in vintage French sack. Sally hand embroidered the words which were designed by Peter, from a poem by Sadie Nencini.
Cowboy Stool
This bow leg stool had to have cowboys on it! Sally designed the cross stitch pattern which she hand stitched onto linen.
Cross Stitch Chair
The chair is a Parker Knoll, upholstered in grey wool flannel with embroidered cross stitch, inspired by a vintage Swedish cross stitch runner.
Flotta Chair
This chair belonged to Rebecca's grandmother who lived on a small island in the Orkneys called 'Flotta'
The embroidery design tells a story and links 2 pairs of people spanning two generations, Rebecca's grandmothers and her two children. Find out more about this fascinating design and story on Peter's blog, post 'Flotta 1'
Mayo Chair
Sally calls this 'The Mayo Chair' as it reminds her of sitting at her Granny's cottage in Mayo embroidering the leaves, inspired by the endless view accross the peat bogs.
Sally re-upholstered this unusual 1940's chair and cleaned and waxed the wood. For the top cover she machine stitched the leaf outline and then hand embroidered the inner leaf.
Pea and Poppy Stool
This piano stool was a commissioned piece of work. Emanuelle found the stool on the street in need of repair, Sally stripped it right back to the frame, made any necessary repairs and replaced all webbing and stuffings.
Peter Nencini made the design for the embroidered cover taking inspiration from Emanuelle's garden - shapes formed from decaying poppy leaves and pea pods - see the Synthesis post on Peter's blog for more information.
Rajasthani Armchair
The Point Chair
The Point chair was a commissioned work. It is a small wooden school chair with an embroidered pad and functional back pouch with pockets for books and pencils. The brief was to illustrate the story 'The Point' by Harry Nilsson. To find out more about the design process read Peters blog post here.
Tyrella Chair
The original drawing was made in response to Tyrella beach in County Down, Northern Ireland; a really special place for both Peter and Sally; going back to her childhood.
Victorian Rocking Chair
This small Victorian childs rocking chair was striped back to the frame and recovered. Sally designed and embroidered the cover taking inspiration from a vintage Rajhistani embroidered cotton jacket.
